march-past

In our kitchen there is a part that is tiled and one that is ... not.
The edge between these two variants stretches across half the room and I think it’s the perfert location for a parade.

First one to walk past is he or she (I’m not sure)

Pirate

I don’t know how your crative process works, but when I set out to make something most of the time I only have a vague idea about what it’s going to be, but not more.

Same one this time. I thought about parades, an lets NOT do something female this time, no long fluttering skirts, no big hair ... ok, trousers then, trousers it is, and a frock-coat - I’m a sucker for frock-coats - and there he was, walking past, saying "remember pirate? - those were the days, eh!?!"

Lets do something pirate ...

So, here’s to awsome, and to let’s do it again sometime!

Arrr!

I’m recently into Origami

Sometimes your just can’t resist.

I have a friend who is deeply into Origami.
He made me this tesselation - just for fun.

I’m not a very accurate person, Origami was always some sort of my Nemesis for that.
But twoday I sat down used up all my wrapping paper and folded some birds.

I started with this dove.

Origami dove

I made a rooster too, and a canary, but with the last scrap of paper I made this flying bird, which is more or less the thing I was aming at.

Origami bird

Here you can see the "square" in the middle:

Memo to self: buy Origami paper (the hardest part was to cut a square that really is a square)

As I said,
sometimes easy is not enough.
Sometimes you have to go for the stuff that’s a tiny bit more difficult.
Sometimes you just can’t resist.
There’s a whole world of folding out there. I’m scratching just the surface.

Update on the Yellow Front

Yesterday I cooked the apple bark with water and alum for about an hour. (Making a high concentrated Alum-Solution is not that simple, I have to find another way for doing this.)
And now I have about 200 ml of something that looks a bit like this colours you use to dye your eastereggs with. It has a layer of crystals at the bottom which I’m hoping to dissolve by careful heating.

Next thing I have to do is to precipitate the Yellow and thereby not to muck up the Kitchen.

Apple-Tree-Bark

I spent the Weekend at my parents to check up with my hibernating plants (a lot of which seem to have died), meet up with a bunch of friends (all alive and healthy) and pick up a bag of apple-tree-bark from an apple-tree-branch my father saw of a couple of weeks ago.

The book says there is a yellow colour hidden in somewere therein.
And I intend to go looking for it!
The next step is to cook the bark with an alum-solution.

Wish me luck.

'Armata Della Primavera': Mr. Tulip

Last Sunday

Taking a bus ride across the swabian hinterland into the Black Forest to get some antibiotics for my sick boyfriend is really not the way I wanted to spend last Sunday but I got no vote in this.

There is but one thing you have on this journeys, and tha’s landscape.
Youŕe sitting in the bus, just looking outside - and landscape happens. It’s still all very brown and dry and dead ... but once in a while there is a cluster of yellow or violet spring-crocus, quite alone in the world ... and if you tilt your head to the left and if you squinny a bit and if your try really hard you can just imagine to be somewhere on the Balkan Peninsula, with the wind and the steppe ...

Inspriation is a funny thing.

I’m drawing again. I’m afraid there are no pictures for you yet.
But you have Mr. Tulip who will be joining you this evening.
